Dillons Diaper Sales

According to babycheapskate.blogspot.com Kroger brand stores (like our Dillons) had the best sale on Huggies and Pampers more weeks out of a year than any other store! This is one of those weeks. There are many tricks to the trade when buying cheap diapers according to her site, but two of them are 1) Jumbo sizes are usually the best value and 2) $8.99 is one of the cheapest sale prices you can find for Huggies or Pampers. So the cards have been dealt in our favor at Dillons with this weeks $3/3 Mix and Match. In order to save the $3 you must buy 3 participating products. This week Pampers Jumbo packs are only $8.99 when you buy 3 participating items (ie. 3 Pampers Jumbo packs). Combine this with any Pampers coupons you may have and you have an amazing deal according to babycheapskates. Read her full article on her 5 rules to saving big bucks and name brand diapers here.

Dillons ONE DAY ONLY Sale 4/2

$.89 Dozen Eggs (limit 4)
With Easter ahead and eggs to be dyed this is the best deal for eggs that can be found! I've only seen this price at Aldi one week and it was sadly gone the next. Time to stock up! And did you know that eggs can last for several weeks in the refrigerator and even several months in the freezer.

Land O Lakes Butter $1.68
Use $.55/1 printable
Pay $.68
(sorry all, I don't think this coupon will match with the item on sale)

Kroger Cheese 24 oz $3
At a $1/8oz this is one of the best prices to get on cheese. Time to stock up!

Oscar Mayer Bacon 4/10

8pc Dark Fried or Baked Chicken $3.99

Hershey's Easter Miniatures, Eggs, and Kisses $1.88

Nestle Nest Eggs $1.58

Dillons Deals 4/1-4/7

Here are the deals for Dillons this week. Although there were other coupon match ups that can be found, many of them did not make the best deal for the price and were not worth mentioning. Dillons is having another slow week, but their big sales are always worth the wait.

Make sure to read my reports on Dillons One Day sale and Diaper deals in my posts above.

Keep in mind that my Dillons double all coupons up to a dollar and also accepts expired coupons up to two weeks old.

$40 Grocery Trip

All groceries, hygiene products, and cleaning products; that's what I'm factoring into my $40 weekly budget. Thankfully, after almost a year of couponing, I'm pretty well stocked so most of my budget can go towards getting the particulars for the week.

So why a $40 budget? Well first of all for the challenge of it. Couponing is always a sort of game and this is just another layer. I also know that I can do it and be wiser with our grocery budet. I need to be more diligent with what I plan, what I buy, and what we eat. The main reason, though, is we have a trip coming up and we decided that the money we save will go toward our expenses for the trip. So thankfully the goal has an end and I can get back to a bigger budget soon. However, I don't think we'll go back to our full budget. I guess we'll see.

My total was $37.53 for today's shopping. Which leaves me a bit of change for creamer that I'll still need to pick up this week. My particular favorites this week are the Life cereals on sale at Dillons (I may go back for more!), the Buddie soap (that is still printing out the free catalina!), and the MORE THAN FREE Sargento Southwest Potatoes Finishers that will actually be on the menu next week (I'll write more about that later).

Just A Heads Up!

It looks like Dillons may be having a $10/10 sale this coming promotion week. I'll try to get some match ups posted when they come available to me. Hopefully there will be a couple good deals to be had. Just a quick reminder, you do not have to buy 10 items to get them for $1 each unless stated in the ad.

I'm hoping to still score big on this weeks 10 item mega event before the deals end. I'll post my shopping trip for this week sometime on Wednesday. Our family goal this month is $40 a week for groceries. Check back to see what I came home with!

Not All Coupon Inserts Are Created Equal!

Ever have that nagging feeling that you're not getting all the same great coupons as everyone else? I always assumed that it must be my own operator error. I threw it away, used it, misfiled it...any number of reasons. Till a sweet young friend of mine tipped me off that the Kansas City Star newspaper coupon inserts carry better coupons than the Wichita Eagle! She had been picking up her KC newspaper for weeks at a local gas station. Between the delivery problems I have been having with the Eagle and the increased prices I was easily convinced this was worth looking into. My husband kindly picked up a KC Star for me this Sunday, and since I forgot to call this week and cancel my subscription to the Eagle, I now had the two papers to compare myself.

The Results
I matched up the coupons that both inserts equally contained. However,

KC Star also contained coupons for:
Blue Diamond Almonds
Renuzit Super Odor Neutralizer
L'Oreal Paris hair color
L'Oreal Paris Ever Pure shampoo or conditioner
L'Oreal Paris Skincare product
Softsoap Ensembles Liquid hand soap (new product)
Stride gum

Wichita Eagle also contained coupons for:
Glass Plus
Playtex Personal Cleansing Cloths
Nature's Own bread products
Physician's Formula cosmetic product
and that great Dillon's insert filled with coupons!!

Final Verdict
As of this issue I would continue to purchase the Eagle over the Star. Missing the Dillon's insert alone would have been a big disappointment. However, this week's paper only included the Smart Source coupon insert. I'm interested to see the difference between other coupon circulars. So for the time being I'll continue to have the Eagle delivered and pick up the Star and keep you posted.

In The Mood For A Free Movie!

If you have never been a customer of a Redbox movie rental box you may be in luck. First time users can receive one free movie rental using the promo code REDBOX. Redbox codes are good to use once per credit card or bank card. So even if you've used a redbox before you may still be able to use it with a card that you have not swiped there before.

Do You Swag?

You know the feeling that it must be too-good-to-be-true? That was my thought about Swagbucks and the reason it took me weeks to sign up. Swagbucks is a search engine powered by Google that earns you "swagbucks" you can use towards purchases in their store. All you have to do is use the Swagbuck search engine to search for all the same things you would do on Google or Yahoo.

So what can you get with those earned swagbucks? Just about anything! My personal favorites are the gift cards to places like Amazon.com or Starbucks that I can save to buy gifts or use to get a free treat. I'm sure my husband would prefer I save for an Apple gift card for him instead. The list goes beyond gift cards, though. Baseball cards, ipods, collectibles, clothing, and my personal favorite, a GPS are just a few things you could buy. After only a couple weeks in the program I've almost earned enough for my first purchase!

So what's the catch? Other than a couple of ads at the bottom of each search results page your search is pretty standard. Of course, just like real cash, money burns the hole in your pocket and you're very likely to purchase those Swagstore items which is free advertising for other companies and potential profit when you use the gift cards.

Just One Way

Donating, sharing, passing along, teaching... couponing has become just one way for me to do each of these things. It was almost a year ago when I stumbled upon couponing and I don't even remember how exactly I stumbled upon it. I do remember that my first impressions of it we're not only a way to save money for our family but also a way to share with others. Growing up in a family that taught me the importance of helping others, it's always been something that I have found joy in doing. So when a career change, two kids, tough economy and a tight budget made me feel extremely limited on how I could help, frustration set in. Finding couponing opened a whole new world for me to do this.

Encouraging others to look for ways to do the same is part of my goal when teaching about couponing. A mother with teenagers may not need the free baby wipes or bubble bath that were on sale, but could she think of a young mom who would be blessed by it instead? Your family may never be able to use all the free toothpaste and soap you collect, but the men's shelter or a charity for kids around the world may be looking for just that. You may know a single mom trying to make ends meet that you can introduce to coupons and encourage.

The excitement of watching your grocery bill shrink is sure to be there, but the joy found in sharing this with others is something I hope you experience as well.
