Dillons Kellogg's Cereal Deal

This week at Dillons Kellogg's Cereals are $2.18. Find 8 Kellogg's coupons on my coupon bar to the right for $1 and it makes them $1.18 each. That's a good deal.

Also consider printing the Fresh Express Salad coupons as well. You can often find these on Manager Special and combined with the coupon that would make a great deal!

Dinner Deal!

Looking for an idea for dinner this week? Sargento Potato Topper's make a great meal for 2-4 people in your family. This week at Dillons Sargento Potato and Salad Toppers are on sale 2/$5 and there is a blinkie (coupon dispenser near the product) for $1 each. That makes them $1.50 a piece. Not a bad price for dinner.

Want to make it even better? I found Baby Butter Lettuce salad packages and potatoes on MS for $1.50. Add on the chicken nuggets for $1 for the kids and yourself and you've got a great meal going!

Better Yet! There was a rebate for Sargento I talked about here. I'm not sure what the expiration was on this, but if you still have it and it's still valid this would be a great deal!

Walgreens Scenarios

Wow! How does she do it? Check out Commonsensewithmoney's scenarios for this weeks RRs. This is exactly how you roll a deal. Click here to find out.

My All-Time FAVORITE Dillons Deal!!

This is the one deal (ok, so there may be others too) I NEVER pass up! If you have never done this deal you are in luck. Dillons has Fast Fixin' Chicken nuggets on sale 10/$10. These are delicious chicken nuggets and 6 of these nuggets are healthier than 1 McDonald's nugget!

Here's what you do:
Go to the Fast Fixin' website here. When you sign up at their site you get ten $.30 coupons. Don't forget to refresh the page so you can print them again if possible.

There is also a survey to complete under "More Coupons" that will earn you a $.75 coupon (refresh and print twice).

They use to give out $1 coupons, but the $.30 double will still make a great deal. Even if you don't have any coupons for the product they are worth stocking up on for a dollar each. I buy at least 12 packs each sale (it won't come around again for about 12 weeks). You can feed about three to four people per package. I love using these when we have babysitters because it is easier and less messy than pizza or mac & cheese. I also love getting the popcorn size and strips and use them to make chicken caesar salads for James and I while the kids eat theirs with sauce.

Update** The coupons the site is now giving out is for the 20 oz nuggets which are not part of the deal. Disappointing. However, trust me they are worth a dollar spent. Also you can send in 10 UPC codes for a coupon for a free product.

Rolling With Walgreens' Punches

Well it's official. Walgreens will no longer have their Easy Saver Rebate program, not even the coupons that come in the booklet. I hope you got to take advantage of it while it lasted. I know I received many great free items this way and will be sad to see it go. I especially liked having the money put on my Walgreens' gift card so I wasn't spending money directly out of pocket when shopping there.

So our new key word when discussing Walgreens will be "Rolling". This is a common term in the couponing world. It means using the one deal to purchase the same deal or another deal and to do that over and over again. Walgreens will be focusing more on their Register Rewards (RR) program which I explained in my post here. When you roll RRs you use RRs that you have earned to buy another RR product to earn back RRs that you just used to purchase that item. Basically, you want to receive RRs every time you use RRs to pay for an item therefore spending as little money out of pocket.

Here are the RR deals for this week thanks to Common Sense With Money. To see a complete list of Walgreens deals visit Common Sense With Money here. She also has a summary of what's to come with the loss of Easy Saver including a possible new free after rebate program.

Personality Tests

Did you ever take the Cosmo quizzes to find out what kind of date you rank to be? Here are my Cosmo results according to me on common stores couponers shop at. No doubt you have your favorite places to shop. And than there are the ones you do your best to avoid or just groan your way through. I've found that the personality of each store pretty much matches up their coupon policies. Of course, it's just my opinion but here are my thoughts.

Target is just about as snotty with their coupons as the french pronunciation of their name suggests. Wanting to be better than they are but still just another low value mega-store Target gets nasty about coupons. Lots of people go there and use coupons all the time without a problem. I've had a couple run-ins with poor cashiers who get snotty about coupons (a typical Target attitude I find) and decided that I can do better at Walgreens and Dillons anyways. I don't shop there regularly enough to really make it worth my time mostly.

Walgreens always manages to screw things up somehow (a typical Walgreens problem), but their deals are so great it's worth putting up with the fuss of it. Be on your toes and double check before you pay. You'll find your basic math getting put to good use as you mentally check their math. And have you ever noticed how the cashier's line is completely empty until you walk up there with three transactions? All a sudden there are five people behind you and they need to call a manager to check your coupon. Really, only Walgreens!

Dillons is great with coupons and rarely causes any problems (a typical Dillons experience overall). Hold onto those Catalinas (that "receipt thing" that prints out). You'd be amazed when you get some good ones. They also send great coupons (including free product coupons) in the mail quite often (you may get these already). Doubling all coupons up to a $1 makes all those low value coupons usable. You have to be patient though, their great sales only come every few weeks. I use to shop exclusively Walmart till I realized the money I could save at Dillons. The high-end store you never thought you'd have the luxury to afford.

Aldi is a little small town market in everyway. Even though they don't except coupons they are a regular stop for me. I get that giddy feeling pulling into the lot (seriously love grocery shopping too much). Rich, poor, old, young, glitz, goth...they're all there and they all unite as one community in Aldi. Some how paying for your cart and bags makes you a kinder, gentler human being. People leave quarters in carts for the next person to enjoy freely. They move their groceries and cart forward to let you get yours on the check out belt. Even with five people standing in line you don't hear griping and usually people strike up pleasant conversations with each other. Ahhh...Aldi! You never know what the little market will carry that week other than the usual staples, but you know you'll always get it cheap.

I Sank My Ship

So how's that $40 grocery budget going? It probably is somewhere on the bottom of ocean by now after I sunk it a couple weeks ago. Don't go after it, no treasure to be had, just lint from my pocket. Let's just say the Dillons' April 2nd "No Foolin" sale was the direct hit that took it down. After spending nearly $30 on cheese and eggs I knew I was in trouble. The deal was just too good to make my budget behave. I decided to use the remaining $10 and the next week's budget to finish off our two weeks of grocery needs before our vacation. That worked well with the rest of the groceries coming $2.60 under budget! However, it didn't total in the milk we would need to replenish later in the week or the few dishes I still needed to bring when going to friends' houses during those two weeks. KA-BOOM! I think I came under $60 for each of those weeks? I gave up tracking and just got what I needed which led to buying fun things for our trip that we probably didn't need. I really need a budget to keep me honest! So instead of boarding the luxury cruise-liner of a bigger grocery budget when we get home, I'll be floating around in my little lifeboat of $40/week until I pay penance for the vacation budget I sank.

Register Rewards and Easy Saver

Well sadly Walgreens will be doing away with their Easy Saver program which offered such great rebates. There's no word yet on what they will be replacing it with, if any. So here's a quick run down on how to use the Easy Saver program for this one last month. Also, a quick tutorial on Register Rewards (RR) that will probably become the greatest way to save money in the future at Walgreens. Hope it's helpful.

Register Rewards: When you buy a certain product or a certain number of products you receive register rewards. Each week the register rewards are listed in the ad. Register Rewards look just like the coupons you get below your receipt at Dilons. You have to hold on to them and spend them on your next purchase like a gift card. However you don't get any money back and you have to spend the whole amount when you use it. Also be careful because they expire in two weeks or so. Don't forget about them.

People often refer to "rolling" RRs. This means they use RR to buy other items to gain more RRs. This helps you buy as much as possible without spending actual money out of pocket. However, you usually cannot buy the same item with the RR that it produced and still receive more RRs. For example: In my post below I mentioned toothpaste and chapstick are both free after RR. You could buy the chapstick in one transaction and then use the $2 RR towards purchasing the toothpaste in the next transaction. This way you spend less money out of pocket and you aren't holding so many RR that may expire quickly. However, you could not use the RR from the chapstick to buy another chapstick. It would purchase the chapstick, but not print out another RR for the chapstick just purchased.

Free After Rebate: Purchase the item. Using a coupon and getting the rebate will actually earn you money! The best way to track them is online. Go to the Easy Saver area on their site (log in first) and click on Claim Rebate. Follow the instructions by checking the items then go to the next screen and enter in the long code found on the top of your receipt. The code is in their main system with all you purchased and is proof that you bought the item and can get the rebate. You should hold on to your receipt in case of a problem, but I've never had trouble. Sometimes you can use that receipt for the manufactures rebate and get your money back twice (this doesn't happen too often). Always hit the Save and Return Later button so you can keep adding through out the month. Once you completely claim your rebates (a box will pop up and remind you of this when you do claim them) you can not claim any more that month so just save them and claim them at the end of the month. You can ask for them to send you a check or a gift card. I do the gift card and have them reload it each month with my total. It only takes a couple days (compared to a couple weeks for the check) and you get an extra 10% added on for choosing the gift card (the first time you claim the gift card it can take up to 3 weeks for them to send it, just be patient).
You can use the booklet and track it and mail it in, but you have to keep all your receipts and circle stuff and track stuff and it seems like such a hassle!

A Way To Give

Here's a great opportunity to give while saving!

Walgreens will give you a $3.50 RR when you buy Colgate Total toothpaste for $3.49. Walgreens will also give you a $2 RR when you buy Natural Chapstick brand chapstick for $1.99. That makes for free toothpaste and chapstick! These would be a great items to add to your Operation Christmas Child boxes or to give to a Men's/Women's shelter. Grab each one each time you hit Walgreens this month.

This month's deal of free toothpaste and chapstick are a great deal to match up with other things your already using cash to buy. Early this month I went in to buy pull-ups that were a great deal. I did two separate transactions that included one chapstick and toothpaste each. That left me with $11 in RR. I then did my third transaction where I used my RRs to pay for my pull-ups. I'll being doing this again when I go in this week to buy some children's meds. First I'll purchase the chapstick and toothpaste, then use the RR to purchase the meds.

More Than Just Saving

Ministry opportunities are the most unexpected blessing I have found with couponing. I hope that doesn't sound trite. The gospel is so much bigger than my little world and affective, wholly complete in its self. These gifts of giving that are provided while couponing are a special whisper God placed in my heart when I first learned about couponing reminding me that even through difficult times my He can cause my cup to overflow; I have more than my measure to share with others. I hope those of you reading this know my heart in writing this, because I'm afraid my words fail me far too often. How can such a huge, magnificent God be so personal to me to teach me trust and faith even through couponing? When the pantry is bursting with deals upon deals I know He has provided and when they look thin I know I can trust Him to provide again for me. Not through couponing, sales, deals but if the coupons, money and stores were gone He would provide for me. He already has, as we remembered yesterday. I run into people time and time again, couponing as our only connecting point, and I know deep down that it's no coincidence. And I know couponing is only the beginning, the starting point, the easy part, the safe part. There's a bigger blessing there to be found and it's there that my faith falters.

This is not where I was going with this post. Not at all. But this is far more real and true to me to post than any any free deal out there today. What a humorous, loving, unique, personal God we have that can cause my heart to praise Him through silly things like couponing.

Great Deal!

Have you got the Dillons' General Mills cereal and free milk deal yet? This is a great deal! I just got 3 boxes of cereal and a gallon of milk for $5.62 with tax! Print the coupons twice and run the deal twice in two separate transactions.

DEAL
Use the coupon generator on the right hand side.
Pick all 3 Big G cereals (Multi-grain Cheerios, Cocoa Puffs, Cinnamon Toast Crunch)
Print them a second time
Grab 2 gallons of milk

I like to use the sugary cereals for the kids snack times, and we'll be bring them in the car for snacks on the road (they are fortified with vitamins). However, today we all couldn't resist having some for lunch as well.

The Bad News With No Good News To Report

The bad news...Walgreens will be canceling their Easy Saver Rebate program after this month. The lack of good news...there is no announced program yet of what they will be replacing it with if any at all. I hope many of you were able to take advantage of the rebate program in the past. I know I received many great free products from this program and am very sad to see it go. However, Walgreens is very aware of all of us loyal couponers and we will not be forgotten. Their stocks have reportedly gone way up since their beginning of their coupon/rebate programs several years ago. I looking forward to what's to come and hoping for something great. I'm also going to become an avid Register Rewardian (I know it's not a word) and see how far I can get with those in the future. To see a letter from cooperate you can click on Dealseekingmom.com here to see her post.

Not All Coupon Inserts Are Created Equal!

Clipping coupons and sorting them are not always my favorite part of couponing. I prefer the saving lots of money stuff personally. So, having two paper inserts to go through these past three weeks has also been a test of perseverance as well. Not to mention this week's paper included five coupon inserts! That's a record number as far as I can remember.

So what's there to report? After matching up all similar coupons, these are the results.

Both the P&G Saver and Unilever inserts matched up exactly.

The best part is my sweet husband doesn't mind picking me up a copy at the gas station on his way in to church each Sunday. I hope you found this informative and now you know when a coupon is listed for a deal and you can't come up with it, it may have never been included in your insert to begin with.

Old Navy Scavenger Hunt

Do you like scavenger hunts and shopping at Old Navy? Sometimes I feel like shopping at Old Navy is a scavenger hunt. Old Navy has combined the two on their web site by having you hunt for hidden coupons. I received one that gives me 40% off one item, but the really good ones had already been maxed out before I got on ($45/$100 and $25/$50). Word has it that there will be a $75 off $100 next Friday! That would definitely be worth searching for. Want to give it a try? Go to www.oldnavyweekly.com/ by clicking here. Click continuously on the grill until it smokes and the %40 coupon pops up. You can also click on the little boy's frisbee to get a %20 coupon. Happy hunting!

Not All Coupon Inserts Are Created Equal!

No brownie points scored for the Wichita Eagle today. Not only did I find their inserts to have less coupons, but they sent an automated phone message to us today telling us they will no longer be delivering the Wednesday paper as part of the price for buying the weekend edition. Besides our paper carrier always forgetting to leave our Wednesday paper every week (I've called 3 times about this issue and it's never resolved) now the mid-week paper that contains the Dillons insert will cease altogether. *I must mention here my most wonderful neighbor who each Wednesday notices my lack of paper delivery and leaves her Dillons ad under my door mat each morning. She wins the award for The-World's-Best-Neighbor in my book.* As an avid couponer receiving the Dillons ad asap is critical for planning my weekly shopping trips and coupon organization.

So how did the coupon ads between the KC Star and the Wichita Eagle stack up? I matched up all the coupons that could be found in the inserts of both papers and the following lists are the ones left over that were unique to each paper.
